How to improve attention

ways to improve attention

Learning to be attentive is tricky. And attention, or rather, its concentration, is necessary for people of many professions, if not all . . . Without the ability to concentrate, one cannot become a good artist and writer; not achieve success in business, politics, finance. Being an inattentive person, you can forget about driving a car, and when riding the subway or public transport, you will simply miss the stops you need. In a word, life will not seem like honey for sure.

An inattentive person is involuntarily careless in business and unnecessary. Such people will never reach the desired heights, do not achieve their goals, and do not gain respect. This means that the situation must be corrected. How to improve attention?

New habits need to be acquired. And discard some of the old ones. Habits always have an impact on the human psyche, and attention is a mental and psychological process that determines and controls the course of thought. And directing it in the right direction is the main condition for improving attention. And every person has opportunities for this . . .

Habit One

To improve your attention, first learn to observe yourself. This does not mean that you need to enter into conflict with yourself, which is fraught with mental deviations up to a split personality. This means being able to analyze situations and events, as well as your thoughts and actions, associated with these situations and events. Why, for example, do you lose the thread of the conversation? Is it because you are disturbed by the noise or unwillingness of the interlocutor to listen to you? This means that one should either eliminate the noise, or get rid of such an interlocutor, or stop talking.

Why did you flare up at the remark you made? Is it unfair? Or were you wrong yourself? Then why are you indignant? Isn't it better to look at yourself and exclude the occurrence of such claims in the future? Analysis of what is happening, first a special one, when you will urge yourself to it, and then involuntary, is an excellent training to improve attention . . .

Habit two

Don't flicker. You can hurry up without fuss and rush. The desire to embrace the immensity is understandable, but, as the sages state, this desire is not feasible. Why try to do everything? After all, in the end, you can be late everywhere . . .

Habit Three

It is directly related to the second habit and boils down to the fact that you should refuse to do several things at once. After all, you quickly get tired of this, and your concentration is reasonably weakened. Well, if your attention already leaves much to be desired, then when conducting several different cases in a row, there will certainly be mistakes and failures. Why do you need this? In addition, the brain will not keep up with efficiently processing a huge amount of completely different information at the same time, which, again, will negatively affect attention. Our task is to improve attention, not overload it . . .

Habit four

Highlighting priorities. This habit follows entirely from the previous one. The ability to highlight the most important from the crowd and focus all attention on it is a way to improve the quality of attention. Believe me, it's not difficult at all. What, for example, is more important: to hand over the assigned work on time or continue to type on the computer the text of the letter that can be sent tomorrow? The first, of course. Well, the exercise is complete. You just need to fix it and make it a habit.

It might be a good idea to draw up a priority plan. It is possible in the head, but better - on paper. And, having completed the most important of them, you can proceed to the next in importance, and so on - until the end of the list . . .

The fifth habit

methods of improving attention

It would be nice, observing yourself, to determine for yourself the hours of the greatest concentration of energy and attention. And in general, find out your biorhythm. For example, you work with full dedication from eight in the morning until half past midday, and from six to nine in the evening. This means that it is during these hours that you should take on the most difficult and responsible tasks. And in the middle of the day, when you have a certain lack of energy and a weakening of attention, spend on performing ordinary current work that does not require special attention. This habit will not allow you to torment yourself senselessly and futilely during hours when your physical and mental strength is not in the best shape. And in the hours of mental and physical recovery - it will make it possible to maximize attention, thereby improving and increasing its strength and power.

Habit six

A calm environment helps to concentrate and improve attention. How to achieve peace of mind has already been said: the absence of fidgeting and fuss, which causes nervousness and anxiety. But you also need to exclude external stimuli that prevent you from concentrating on the task at hand and its implementation. Having found the optimal place for the execution of work, we will get the greatest concentration of attention.

Habit Seven

It is associated with the ability to control their senses. They connect us with what surrounds us, with the entire outside world. It is through them that the flow of information goes, which must be filtered, avoiding everything unnecessary at the moment. And this is done with the help of attention. For example, when reading, if we concentrate on it, we no longer hear any noise. And when listening to good music, we may not notice what is happening around us. A great workout to improve attention to the subject we are currently engaged in.

Habit Eight

It is contained in memory training, which is extremely important for improving attention. A good memory helps with work. Less effort is required to complete it, moreover, attention is not diverted to details and the search for the necessary information. Everything is in our head, everything is at hand. Any memory training - and there are many methods, and it is not difficult to choose from them to your liking - helps to improve attention and concentration.

This is how one acquired habit that improves attention will lead to the acquisition of another, a third, and so on. And when these acquired habits become a necessity and part of your life, your attention to words and deeds will be extremely concentrated without much effort on your part. And then success in any business you undertake is simply guaranteed . . .
